Think Denk

Jeremy Denk, one of the leading solo and collaborative pianists in the classical music industry today, writes a blog. I read it and always find it interesting to glimpse into the mind of someone working at such a high level, and working so often. Denk recalling the first time he saw Van Cliburn live and those sorts of stories always make musicians (or at least me!) smile a little. I can remember the first time I saw Jeremy Denk play, it was with Joshua Bell at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall – it was fantastic. As we count down the days until the competitors must confirm that they will travel to Cincinnati for the World Piano Competition; I thought it would be interesting food for thought to link this New Yorker article Denk wrote on what he took away from the years and years of training he received.
